Clothing items are limited to 150
pieces per consignor.
The 150 pieces of clothing do not include shoes, socks, or
bibs. A 2- or 3-piece set such as a shirt and shorts
grouped as a set on one hanger counts as one piece. Of the
150 pieces, up to 20 can be size 0 – 6mos. We are typically
over-run with these sizes and have had many complaints from
shoppers that these sizes contain duplicate outfits. A
group of onesies pinned together counts as one piece and
will count towards the limit for 0 – 6 months.
Pricing
Minimum item price is $2.00 and prices should be in $1.00
increments only. (i.e. $2.00, $5.00, etc.). Any price not
in dollar increments will be rounded to the lowest dollar.
Saturday all items will be 50% off.
NOTE: If you DO NOT
want your items to be marked down, print the No Disc
(No Discount)
barcodes.
Hint-This is a consignment sale and not a
yard sale, so items should be priced at about 1/3 of
original price.

MAKING TAGS |
-
We are now using plain 3x5 index cards for tags.
We use color-coded tags to tell us if you want
your items returned at the end of the sale
DONATE THIS ITEM:
Use
cards
KEEP THIS ITEM: Use
cards
DON'T USE RED!
We use red to indicate Sold Items.
CAN I USE A COMBINATION OF WHITE AND COLOR
CARDS? Of course!
Use a combination of white and color cards when
you have certain items you would like returned
and other items you are willing to donate.
ATTENTION RETURNING CONSIGNORS:
If you have tags left over from a previous sale,
you CAN use them. You will only have to
place the new barcodes over the old barcode on
the bottom of your tag. (You will still need to
use old white tags for items you are donating
and old color tags for items you would like
returned. Just apply the new barcode sticker to
the bottom of the tag.)
Leave space at the top to safety pin your tag to
your item.
PLEASE -- NO STRAIGHT
PINS OR TINY GOLD PINS.
NOTE: For added security, place a piece of
scotch tape or packaging tape over the safety
pin once it is pinned to your item.
Gender and Size. Write in the Gender & Size (if
applicable) in the middle under the safety pin.
Please do not use S, M, L, instead use 4t, 6, 8,
etc.
Write in a description of the item under the
size. Please put color or item, name brand,
etc. Examples: Green and blue Gap shirt; Pink
and white striped Little Me dress.
Affix a
BARCODE LABEL to the bottom of
the card.
A barcode label is REQUIRED on every card.
Login as a consignor to order barcode labels.
Your barcodes will print the price, consignor
number and barcode, as well as specify whether
or not you want the item to be sold at
half-price on Saturday.

DON'T FORGET!
In addition to the card
pinned to your garment, please put a piece of masking tape inside the garment
with your consignor number only. Do this for all items including toys. This
helps us if a tag is lost.
NOTE: For those more computer savvy, try printing your consignor number
on adhesive labels and use those to mark your items instead of masking tape.

TAGGING CLOTHING, SHOES, ONESIES, BIBS, SOCKS |
-
Hanging Clothes
Clothing must be on hangers with the hanger
hook pointing to the left. Place the tag
vertically (up & down) on the right front of the
garment (Use the example below as a guide). When
hanging an outfit that includes pants, hang the
pants with the shirt so that they can easily be
seen.
Here’s how: Turn the shirt around so that
you are facing the back of the shirt, then
safety pin the top of the pants to the shoulders
of the shirt. Try to grasp the lines of the
hanger in the safety pin as well, so the pants
do not weigh down the shirt. If just selling
pants, pin the pants to the front of the hanger
(hook pointing left like a question mark) at the
top angled edges of the hanger. Do not pin to
the bottom of the hanger as the pants will slide
to one corner. Pinning to the top edges makes
your pants look good and will make them easier
to sell.
-
Onesies, Bibs, Socks, etc.
Unfortunately we have had problems with onesies,
bibs, socks, etc. grouped together in bags. If
you would like to sell onesies as a group, just
pin them all together at each shoulder and tag
on the front onesie. They are too small to be
hung on hangers and this way the shoppers can
see the great quality items they will be
getting. Same with bibs, just use a large
safety pin to group them together. We will
still put these items in bins for the sale as
they are too small to be hung.
We have had much the same issue with socks when
they are bagged. If you would like to bag a few
infant socks together where all can be inspected
easily, that will be just fine. However, a bag
stuffed to the brim will be turned away. If you
have older children’s socks that are in
excellent condition, please either sell as a
pair or put 2 pair together and sell as a set
pinned together for easy inspection. We have
found that the older children’s socks frequently
wear out on the bottom and as always; we strive
to have top-notch quality items at the sale.
This gives our sale a great reputation and keeps
customers coming back and buying more of YOUR
items
-
Shoes
Tie shoes together with CABLE TIES. Pin tag to
cable tie or laces. Place masking tape with
your consignor number inside each shoe. Do not
bring shoes in boxes or plastic bags. We are
limiting shoes to 8 pairs.
NOTE: They must look like new.
TIP: Soak white laces in a detergent
such as BIZ to really clean them up!
|
DON'T FORGET!
NO CLOTHESPINS:
Don't use clothespins to hang the clothes.
HANGER HOOKS:
Must be large enough to fit over a standard-size rack.
|
TAGGING TOYS AND OTHER ITEMS |
-
Please use clear packing tape to attach tags to
toys or other items. Secure loose parts with
packing tape.
REMEMBER: Be sure to also include
masking tape with your consignor # on each item
-
All toys with small pieces must be in a clear
Ziploc bag with the tag taped on the bag
securely.
PLEASE
TAPE BAGS SECURELY CLOSED!
Tape and package your item as if it is going to
be given to a class of kindergarteners and you
don't want them to open it.
-
CDs, DVDs, etc.
Please make sure that the correct item is in the
correct case.
PLEASE DO NOT TAPE THE
CASES SHUT
--
We have to check them at drop off.
Please
check the back of your DVD's for scratches and
cleanliness!
-
VIDEO GAMES AND SYSTEMS.
To keep your items safe at the sale, we will
keep these items behind the registers. Please
print out the FK Video Card Sheet on cardstock
to fill out and bring with your items to the
sale. These cards will be displayed at the
sale. Shoppers will bring the cards to the
registers to purchase.
Video Card Sheet
-
Batteries MUST be included in all
battery-operated toys.
-
Cribs, Play Yards, High Chairs, Strollers,
Outdoor Play Equipment, and Other Large Items
These items sell exceptionally well. However,
they sell best when assembled. If you plan on
bringing a similar item, please allow enough
time at drop off to assemble these yourself at
the sale. ALSO, if you have the
instruction manual that comes with one of these
items, place it in a Ziploc bag and attach it.
This will really help it sell!
PLEASE NOTE:
You will be responsible for unloading your items
and bringing larger items into the facility and
down to the center stage for check in. Please
bring assistance as needed.
|
DON'T FORGET!
CLOTHING
MUST BE SORTED BY GENDER AND SIZE
at drop-off so we can quickly get it put away.
DON'T FORGET! We
will be very selective of the items we accept.
Our goal is to provide all
shoppers with great quality items. Please look through your items very
carefully. Sometimes the light in the building picks up some stains that you
miss at home, so please do not be offended if we turn any of your items
away. You are welcome to take them home and try and get the stains out and
return them to the sale before 12pm
on Wednesday, the last
drop-off day.
DON'T FORGET!
All items must be CLEAN and smell fresh.
|
4 SIMPLE STEPS TO BARCODING |
-
Start by
making the tags for your items
-
As you
make the cards, determine the price you want for
each item and whether you will sell if for
half-price on Saturday.
Write, that information in the bottom right-hand
corner of the card (You will cover it with the
barcode later).
-
Once you
have written and attached all the cards to your
items, get a sheet of paper and make a list of
the barcodes you will need. (for example: 3 @
$2.00/ND, 5
@
$1.00, 8
@
$2.00, etc.)
-
Now you
have an easy list to use when you're ready to
order and print your barcodes. You will also
have an easy system for knowing which barcodes
go on which item -- based on what you wrote on
the tags
|
DON'T FORGET!
If you change your mind on the price or half-price option that you put on an
item, you MUST get a new barcode. DO NOT mark out the barcode's price or
discount and change it manually. The item will scan at the checkout
according to what is encoded in the barcode, not what is written on the
barcode sticker

IMPORTANT CONSUMER PROTECTION
SAFETY COUNCIL INFORMATION! |
The Consumer Protection Safety Information Act
(CPSIA)
CPSIA, effective February 10, 2009, is a law
designed to remove children’s items that contain an unsafe
amount of
lead. The CPSC recently released a
clarification to the law that releases consignment stores from the
responsibility of testing items for lead but we are still
expected to make every reasonable effort to remove unsafe items and will be
held accountable if we do not do so.
Finders Keepers is a strong advocate
for children’s safety and we are going to make every effort to be in
compliance with this law!
Before you start tagging:
You must
check all your sale items against the CPSC recall list. If
any of your items are on the recall list, they ARE NOT to be brought to
the sale. When you register online you will sign a Seller’s Agreement that
specifically states you have checked the recall list and are not bringing
any recalled items.
